Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Erect colonial shrub to 1 m, the stems armed with numerous slender, straight prickles mixed with stiff bristles; lfls 7-11, subglabrous, 0.5-1.5(-2) נ0.5-1 cm; fls solitary at the branch-tips, bractless; pedicel glabrous; hypanthium wide-mouthed, glabrous; pet 1-2(-2.5) cm, white or ochroleucous (sometimes more yellowish at base), seldom pink; hips purplish-black;2n=28. Native of Eurasia, occasionally escaped from cult. (R. spinosissima, in part)
