The collection houses over 183,000 filed specimens from throughout the World with a strong emphasis on North America, specifically the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and the southeast US; Mexico; and Asia. As a result of extensive collecting by A. J. Sharp and colleagues, the collection is especially strong in specimens from Tennessee, the southern Appalachian Mountains, and from Mexico.
