United States, Florida, Alachua, Sugarfoot Subdivision, just north of 4561 NW Clear Lake Dr. Roadside (edge of vacant lot) planted with ornamentals. This Dioscorea may have been intentionally planted but is now clearly spreading via rhizomes and bulbils. At least 30 plants observed covering an area approximately 60 ft long, growing amongst bamboo and azaleas. Rhizomatous vine, freely branching and twining, running along ground and climbing in tree canopy to 30 ft high. Leaf upper surface blackish-green with silver markings along midvein, lower surfaces flushed with purple. Subterranean bulbils present..
