United States, Texas, Tarrant, Abundant perennial herbs to over 2.0 m tall, consisting of several, mostly unbranched stems, except at inflorescence, arising from a woody rootstock; leaves to 13 mm wide and mostly entire; calyx tube 6 mm long; lips 2.5 mm long; corolla tube 12 mm long, galea 8 mm long, lip 13 mm long. Obs.: Absolutely the largest population I have ever seen, unfortunately mostly protected behind formidable barbed wire fence, but in tall grass prairie situations, truely a rare sight. 1 or 2 bumble bees and wavy carpenter bees, also saw hummingbird. Good cyto. material present. Along TX Farm Rd. 1187 West, 8.5 miles west of Crowley, on south-side of road in prairie area adjacent to fence and railroad tracks, in full sun in black prairie soil. Elev. ca. 280 m
